Box-Office Report: 2 GUNS Blows THE SMURFS 2 Away

2 Guns Paul Patton Denzel Washington

It looks like the Smurfs couldn't outweigh some old-fashioned R-rated fun. The Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg action film "2 Guns" has taken the top spot with $27 million, while "The Smurfs 2" struggled in its opening weekend. The family adventure earned a modest $18 million, much worse than the first film which opened with $35 million in 2011, but performed slightly better overseas.  "The Wolverine" took a steep dive and dropped to second place. The Hugh Jackman starrer is still doing much better overseas than it does domestically, but has already managed to take in more than double its budget. James Wan's "The Conjuring" ($13.6 million) and "Despicable Me 2" ($10 million) round up the top 5.

More box-office details and the complete top 10, after the jump.
