We have the first trailer and poster for Roland Emmerich's "White House Down". The film stars Channing Tatum as a Washington policeman who ends up being the unlikely hero who saves the President (Jamie Foxx) and his country from a surprise attack that has paralyzed the nation's capital. Emmerich plays this on a much larger scale than "Olympus Has Fallen", including his favorite activity: destroying landmarks. The Capitol building and the White House suffer severe damage and Air Force One is blown from the sky. Another difference from Antoine Fuqua's "Olympus..." is that the threat this time seems to be domestic and not some foreign country with a grudge. Sorry, North Korea, you'll have to sit this one out.

In both movies, the White House gets blown to pieces and washed away, respectively. Mass destruction aside, this movie feels like the typical summer blockbuster and only occasionally echoes "Die Hard". The general consensus online is that "Olympus Has Fallen" is probably the better film, but knowing Emmerich, I'm sure there's some outrageously dumb fun to be had with "White House Down". Let's face it, Emmerich is no Antoine Fuqua, but he knows how to blow stuff up on a large scale like nobody else.
"White House Down" also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Jason Clarke, Jake Weber and Lance Reddick. The release date for the film is June 28, 2013.
