According to George Lucas, there is a very strong possibility that J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII" will star Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. The trio will reprise the roles of Luke, Leia and Han Solo, respectively, from the original Star Wars trilogy. Now, the thing is that this bit of news has been cautiously confirmed by Lucas, because it seems that Disney is actually looking to keep it all a secret until they put out an official announcement. It was Carrie Fisher who first broke the news of her casting in the sequel about a week ago, but her rep quickly denied it the next day saying that she was "joking around". Here is what George Lucas declared:
"We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not."Bottom line is that indeed the protagonists of the original Star Wars films will return for Episode 7, but negotiations are either in progress and Lucas is looking to speed things up with the above statement, or the actors have already signed on for the sequel and Lucas is just trying to increase the buzz surrounding the film.
