Official Synopsis: Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect.

When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.

Loaded with new takes on old favorites to hits of right now that are seamlessly mixed together, mashed-up and arranged like you’ve never heard before, Pitch Perfect is directed by Jason Moore, who opened our eyes to the very misbehaved life of puppets in the surprise Broadway sensation Avenue Q.

David Fincher is no longer attached to direct "Cleopatra". The movie, based on Stacy Schiff’s book "Cleopatra: A Life", will star Angelina Jolie in the lead role and screenwriter Eric Roth ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") was hired to pen a draft of the script. Now, Fincher has quit the project. Sony is currently looking for a new director but for now the only name that has surfaced is that of Ang Lee ("Brokeback Mountain").

"The Expendables 2" is enjoying a great run in theaters (second week at #1), so "The Expendables 3" is definitely going to happen. Producer Avi Lerner has announced that they've already picked up Nicolas Cage for the sequel and they've got their sights set on Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes for additional roles :
"We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].

And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]"

"The Avengers 2" has a release date : May 1, 2015. Director Joss Whedon will return to helm the sequel. Other Marvel movies' release dates are : "Iron Man 3" - May 3, 2013; "Thor: The Dark World" - November 8, 2013; "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" - April 4, 2014; "Guardians of the Galaxy" - August 1, 2014.

Ron Howard's ambitious adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series has been refused by Warner Brothers. The project, which would have included three films and two TV series (picked up by HBO), had encountered several setbacks in the past, most of those having to do with the epic scope which required an equally epic budget. The project was first refused by Universal and now Warner has passed on it as well. There may still be hope, however, as Media Rights Capital is in "serious talks" to finance the project. Initially Javier Bardem was linked to star as the lead and later on Russel Crowe also expressed interest in the project if it were to be greenlit. There is currently no lead secured, but if MRC will go all the way, we might be in for a really cool project.

The new "Jack Ryan" reboot is finally getting some major buzz. Paramount Pictures is producing the new movie with Chris Pine ("Star Trek") in the lead role and Kenneth Branagh ("Thor") directing and starring as the villain. This past week, several announcements were made that sparked the buzz regarding the reboot.

Jack Ryan is a character who appeared in several Tom Clancy novels which eventually got adapted for the big screen. The movies and the actors who played Ryan are : "The Hunt for October Red" - Alec Baldwin, "Patriot Games" and "A Clear and Present Danger" - Harrison Ford, "The Sum of All Fears" - Ben Affleck. Since the last of the Ryan movies, in 2002, no other attempts were made to adapt any other of Clancy's novels, until now.

Despite several setbacks which have been delaying the making of this film since 2009, the production seems to be moving forward and we even have some cast updates: Keira Knightley will star as Ryan's wife Cathy (played by Anne Archer in the Harrison Ford movies) and Kevin Costner has recently joined the cast as William Harper, Ryan's CIA liason.

The plot seems to indicate that the reboot will actually be a prequel, giving us insight into Ryan's early years. The story obviouly has something to do with Ryan fighting agains some global conspiracy or something and director Kenneth Branagh sheds some light on the prequel concept:
"It' an original story that allows us to understand how Jack Ryan develops into a CIA analyst, before joining, and perhaps even joining, the CIA. It’s a very contemporary action thriller set in the here and now."
A release date has been roughly set for the fourth quarter of 2013. It is also said that Paramount is actually planning a Jack Ryan trilogy, but it all depends on how well this first one does. Furthermore, the studio wants Tom Hardy, Pine's partner from "This Means War", to star as the lead in a Jack Ryan spin-off based on another Tom Clancy novel : "Without Remorse". Hardy would star as John Clark, Ryan's fellow CIA operative, in that film. Both Ryan and Clark were recruited and mentored by William Harper, Kevin Costner's character. Obviously, if Hardy accepts and if "Jack Ryan" does well enough at the box-office, it could mean the beginning of a beautiful franchise. Here is the Amazon synopsis for the book "Without Remorse" :
"Avid readers of Clancy’s bestselling techno-thrillers (The Hunt for Red October et al.) know agent John Kelly, code-named Mr. Clark, as Jack Ryan’s “dark side.” Here, in 1970, Vietnam vet Kelly gets involved in a secret operation to rescue 20 American pilots from a North Vietnamese prison camp. Betrayed by someone in Washington, the mission ends in apparent failure. Clancy balances the military movements with a dark narrative of Kelly’s tragic personal life. While mourning the death of his pregnant wife in a traffic accident, Kelly picks up a young hitchhiker named Pam, a prostitute and drug “mule” fleeing her cruel masters. The pair fall in love and set out to bring down the drug lords, but an error on Kelly’s part leads to Pam’s horrible demise at the hands of the vengeful criminals. After his own recovery from a shotgun blast, Kelly begins methodically to murder his way through the drug ring."
