New Wide Releases: "The Dark Knight Rises".

Weekend Total: aprox. $220M.

Biggest Drop : "The Amazing Spider-Man" (-68%)

Smallest Drop : "To Rome With Love" (-42%)

Observations : The opening of "The Dark Knight Rises" was marked by tragedy, but the movie still managed to pull off a record-breaker. The final chapter in the Dark Knight trilogy earned $160M in three days, making it the biggest 2D opening ever and the third best opening ever, behind "The Avengers" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2", both of which were also released in 3D. Warner Brothers has announced that they will make donations to the charities supporting victims of the Aurora, Colorado shooting rampage.
