In Theaters : SHAME (2011)

Official Synopsis : Brandon is a thirty-something man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life. After his wayward younger sister moves into his apartment, Brandon's world spirals out of control. From director Steve McQueen (Hunger), Shame is a compelling and timely examination of the nature of need, how we live our lives and the experiences that shape us. Stars Michael Fassbender, Carey Mulligan, James Badge Dale and Nicole Beharie.

Genre: Drama

What to Expect : Don't you dare go see this movie thinking you're going to see a lot of explicit sex. It's not that kind of movie. What you should expect (beside the aforementioned sex) is a ponderous and emotionally stirring drama about a damaged individual, laced with excellent performances. (LIMITED RELEASE)

Critical Response : Positive. This was expected, considering "Shame" has been rounding up awards and praises for some months now and is seriously aiming for some Oscar consideration. Powerful, affecting, brilliantly acted. A compelling study of a man's addiction. Rated 80% on Rottentomatoes.com from 74 positive and 19 negative reviews.
