Official Synopsis : The hot-headed young D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas' story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3-D.
Genre: Action, Adventure
What to Expect : Not "The Three Musketeers" you remember. An overblown action spectacle filled to the brim with fancy visual effects, heavily choreographed sword fights and bad acting. If you're looking for some unpretentious and simple-minded fun, this is it.
Critical Response : Negative, like every other movie in Paul W.S. Anderson's career. Pretty much every reviewer out there labeled the movie as a stupid and boring actioner, a very loose adaptation of Dumas' novel displaying a collection of action cliches picked up from better movies. Among the actors, Logan Lerman and Milla Jovovich were the most criticized, one critic remarking that their performance is like "nails on a chalkboard". Critics were also turned off by the "dark" and "dingy" 3D. Rated 24% on Rottentomatoes.com from 13 positive and 42 negative reviews.
