In Theaters : CONAN THE BARBARIAN (2011)

Official Synopsis : A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan (Jason Momoa) realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy

What to Expect : Pointless remake/reboot, almost as pointless as "Fright Night", also released today, only less creative and interesting. What else could you expect from Nispel, who also directed the "Friday the 13th" remake. If you're idea of a good time at the movies is watching people getting disembowled, then this will please you. Otherwise, there's not much reason to waste a perfectly good week-end with this ugly mess.

Critical Response : Negative. As hard as they tried, critics could not find anything redeeming about this movie. The acting is bad, particularly Momoa as Conan and the plot is terribly dull and only exists for the sake of the very generous bloodshed displayed on-screen. In short : a "dumb summer flick" featuring "eye-deadening, wallet-draining 3D". Rated 25% on Rottentomatoes.com from 17 positive and 50 negative reviews.
