In Theaters Now, June 24, 2011 : BAD TEACHER

Official Synopsis : Some teachers just don't give an F. For example, there's Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz). She's foul-mouthed, ruthless, and inappropriate. She drinks, she gets high, and she can't wait to marry her meal ticket and get out of her bogus day job. When she's dumped by her fiancé, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute (Justin Timberlake) - competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch). When Elizabeth also finds herself fighting off the advances of a sarcastic, irreverent gym teacher (Jason Segel), the consequences of her wild and outrageous schemes give her students, her coworkers, and even herself an education like no other. -- (C) Sony Pictures

What to Expect : The kind of raunchy comedy that glorifies rude behavior to the point of fetishism. Explicit and wildly cynical, the movie walks a thin line between the bearable and the unbearable, but it sort of succeeds in its aims. Cameron Diaz carries the whole show with gusto.

Critical Response : Mixed. While critics universally praised Cameron Diaz for her brave performance, they're still on the fence on whether or not the movie is actually funny. Some even compared it to "Bad Santa", remarking that it fails to match that movie's level of craft, while others simply did not find the execution to be as outrageous as the filmmakers promised. The positive, or mixed reviews appreciated the movie's dark edge. Currently the movie is rated 46% fresh on Rottentomatoes.com from 50 positive and 58 negative reviews.
