In Theaters, June 17, 2011 : THE ART OF GETTING BY

Official Synopsis : The Art of Getting By stars Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as George, a lonely and fatalistic teen who's made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, who is befriended by Sally (Emma Roberts - Scream 4), a beautiful and complicated girl who recognizes in him a kindred spirit. -- (C) Fox Searchlight

What to Expect : The kind of independent flick that sets up a strange and promising premise, then forgets about being original and just settles for the well-established cliches. Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts showcase their talent, but that's about all you can expect.

Critical Response : Not very good. The movie only got a limited release in the US, and apparently there's a good reason for it. Critics mostly complained about how dull and self-important it was and argued that the overall execution fails to do justice to the story. The more mixed reviews called it "decent" and "smart-enough". Not exactly rave reviews. Currently the movie is 20% fresh on Rottentomatoes.com, with 12 positive reviews and 46 negative ones.
