Ryan Reynolds in Talks to Star in DRAGON'S LAIR Live-Action Adaptation for Netflix

Ryan Reynolds in Talks to Star in DRAGON'S LAIR Live-Action Adaptation for Netflix
Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star in and produce a live-action adaptation of the iconic 1980s arcade game "Dragon's Lair" for Netflix, as the streaming giant has finally secured the rights to the game after a year of negotiations.

The film will also be produced by Roy Lee (Vertigo Entertainment), Trevor Engelson (Underground Films), Don Bluth, Gary Goldman and Jon Pomeroy. The screenplay will be penned by Daniel and Kevin Hageman ("Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark").

The game was originally released for arcades in 1983 by Cinematronics, and it used laserdisc technology to provide superior graphics and feature film quality animation from Don Bluth Studios. The plot centers around Dirk the Daring, a knight who sets out to rescue Princess Daphne from the evil dragon Singe and a wizard named Mordroc. Soon after its release, a short-lived animated series adaptation ran from 1984 to 1985.

Reynolds' previous collaboration with Netflix was the Michael Bay-directed action thriller "6 Underground". He also has the action comedy "Red Notice" in the works at the streaming company.
