Paul Dano Joins THE BATMAN as The Riddler

Paul Dano Joins THE BATMAN as The Riddler
After the recent announcement that Jonah Hill is no longer in the running for the role of the Riddler in Matt Reeves' upcoming DC Comics movie "The Batman", we now have a definitive answer to this conundrum.

Paul Dano has been cast as the villain, who in this film will be known as Edward Nashton. The director is apparently looking for a more grounded take on the character, as opposed to Jim Carrey's cartoonish version in 1995's "Batman Forever". The film, which Reeves has described as being "a point-of-view-driven, noir Batman tale", also stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.

Production on "The Batman" will begin later this year or early 2020. The release date has been set for June 25, 2021.

Dano recently received an Emmy nomination for his role in the 2018 Showtime limited series "Escape at Dannemora". He is also set to star in Jane Campion's drama "The Power of the Dog" opposite Kirsten Dunst and Benedict Cumberbatch.
