"Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" is a horror film directed by Andre Ovredal ("Troll Hunter") from a script by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman ("The LEGO Movie") and Guillermo del Toro based on the children's book series of the same name by Alvin Schwartz.

The story is set in 1968, in the small town of Mill Valley, and it follows a group of teenagers who uncover a tome of terrifying stories belonging to Sarah Bellows, a young girl with horrible secrets who lived a tortured life. The film stars Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel RUsh, Austin Zajur, Natalie Ganzhorn, Dean Norris and Gil Bellows.

"Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" opened in theaters on August 9, 2019.

"It's l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind... but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time--stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying tome. "
