Marvel's "Spider-Man: Far From Home" rescued the summer box-office from the slump it was going through, and also managed to break a couple of records. Meanwhile, the horror film "Midsommar" delivered the largest indie debut of the year.

Find out more about the weekend box-office after the jump.

The sequel "Spider-Man: Far From Home" was released on Tuesday, ahead of Independence Day, and grossed $93 million over the weekend, while its six-day total has reached a massive $185 million. The film broke the records for most money earned on a Tuesday and a Wednesday, and the largest six-day debut for a film opening on Tuesday. The previous Independence Day record was held by "Despicable Me 2" ($153 million). Overall, the MCU sequel's six-day performance ranks 22nd all-time, ahead of "Spider-Man 2" ($180 million), but well below "Avengers: Endgame" ($450 million).

Comparisons with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" are pretty much impossible. The first MCU Spidey flick opened over a regular 3-day weekend with $117 million, and went on to gross $334 million domestically and $545.9 internationally. Regardless, the sequel is already outpacing its predecessor after just six days.

Overaseas, "Far From Home" opened last weekend in three markets. This weekend it brought in $244 million from 66 countries for an international total of $395 million. The film's worldwide cume has already reached $580 million. The top overseas market is China with $167 million.

"Spider-Man: Far From Home" received mostly positive reviews from critics (91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 69 on Metacritic), and an equally enthusiastic reception from moviegoers ("A" from CinemaScore).

In second place, Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story 4" raked in $34.3 million in its third weekend for a domestic total of $306.5 million. Overseas, the film brought in another $34.4 million for an international total of $343.4 million.

Danny Boyle's musical rom-com "Yesterday" held over in third place with 10.7 million. The film has grossed $36.8 million domestically, so far, and another $20.1 million overseas.

The Conjurverse flick "Annabelle Comes Home" finished in fourth place with $9.7 million after a 52% drop in its second weekend. The film currently has a domestic total of $50.1 million, while overseas it added another $20 million this weekend for a cume of $84.6 million.

Disney's "Aladdin" live-action remake rounds out the Top 5 with $7.6 million. The film has raked in a total of $320.7 million domestically and $600.9 million internationally, topping $900 million globally.

Released on Wednesday, the A24 horror film "Midsommar" opened in sixth place with $6.5 million over the weekend and raked in a five-day total of $10.9 million, which is in line with studio projections.  The film has received a positive critical reception (82% on Rotten Tomatoes and 72 on Metacritic), while audiences didn't thing much of it ("C+" grade from CinemaScore).
