Ben Affleck, Matt Damon Reteam for Ridley Scott's THE LAST DUEL

Ben Affleck, Matt Damon Reteam for Ridley Scott's THE LAST DUEL
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will once again star together in the revenge thriller "The Last Duel" based on Eric Jager's book "The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France". The film will be directed by Ridley Scott from a script by Nicole Holofcener ("Can You Ever Forgive Me?"), Damon and Affleck.

The story focuses on the last officially recognized judicial duel fought in France, a so-called "trial by combat", that took place on December 29, 1386 between Norman knight Jean de Carrouges and the squire Jacques Le Gris, after the former accused the latter, his former friend, of raping his wife. The king of France allowed their dispute to be resolved in what was to be the last legally ordered judicial combat in Paris.

Scott and Damon also worked together on the sci-fi drama "The Martian". Damon and Affleck won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for writing "Good Will Hunting", which they also starred in. The two have also appeared together in "School Ties" (1992), "Glory Daze" (1995), "Chasing Amy" (1997), "Dogma" (1999), "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (2001), "The Third Wheel" (2002), and "Jersey Girl" (2004). They are set to make another appearance in Kevin Smith's upcoming comedy sequel "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot".

Ridley Scott has plenty of projects set for the near future, including an "Alien" prequel and a "Gladiator" sequel, as well as the war drama "Battle of Britain", and the action thriller "Queen & Country" starring Sylvia Hoeks. Damon will also star in Tom McCarthy's drama "Stillwater", and can be seen this year in the biopic "Ford v Ferrari" opposite Christian Bale. Affleck is set to star in Universal's wilderness drama "I Am Still Alive".
