"The Act" is a new true crime anthology drama series created by Nick Antosca ("Channel Zero", "Hannibal") and journalist Michelle Dean based on Dean's article "Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom To Be Murdered". The eight-episode first season follows a real life toxic mother-daughter relationship and the cast features Patricia Arquette, Joey King, AnnaSophia Robb, Chloe Sevigny and Calum Worthy.

The first season of "The Act" premiered in its entirety on March 20, 2019 via Hulu.

"The Act is a seasonal anthology series that tells startling, stranger-than-fiction true crime stories. Season One follows Gypsy Blanchard (Joey King), a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother, Dee Dee (Patricia Arquette). Her quest for independence opens a Pandora?s box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder."
