Written and directed by Ari Aster, the horror film "Hereditary" tells the story of a family whose life begins to slip into chaos following the death of their matriarch, as cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry begin to surface. The film stars Toni Collette, Milly Shapiro, Gabriel Byrne and Alex Wolff.

"Hereditary" opened in theaters on June 8, 2018 and received high acclaim from critics. The film scored a surprising $1.3 million from Thursday night previews, and it's expected to gross around $12 million during its opening weekend.
