"The Terror" is a new horror series created by David Kajganich ("A Bigger Splash") and executive-produced by Ridley Scott, based on the 2007 novel of the same name by Dan Simmons.

The show is inspired by the true story of the Royal Navy's polar explorer ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, that vanished in 1847 while trying to discover a navigable passage through the Arctic. The fictional account of their adventures finds the crew of the expedition led by Sir John Franklin (Ciaran Hinds) trapped in the ice and under attack by a mysterious predator. Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, Adam Nagaitis, Paul Ready, Ian Hart, Chris Corrigan and Nive Nielsen co-star.

The first episode of "The Terror" was originally broadcast as a special preview on March 25, 2018 following "The Walking Dead". The official premiere featuring the first two episodes airs tonight, March 26th, 2018 on AMC at 9p.

"Inspired by a true story, The Terror centers on the Royal Navy's perilous voyage into unchartered territory as the crew attempts to discover the Northwest Passage. Faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, dwindling hope and fear of the unknown, the crew is pushed to the brink of extinction.
