Universal and Illumination Entertainment have released their latest animated sequel, "Despicable Me 3". Directed by Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin and Eric Guillon, the new installment finds Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) having to deal with his long lost twin Dru (also voiced by Carell), and a new villain, Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker) a 1980s child star with a taste for world domination.

The film also features the voices of Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaaier, Julie Andrews, Jenny Slate and Pierre Coffin. The soundtrack features new songs written by Pharrell Williams and the score was composed by Heitor Pereira.

"Despicable Me 3" opened in theaters on June 30th, 2017, and received mixed reviews from critics, who found it to be a fans-only affair. The film is expected to gross around $85-95 million in its opening weekend, although it only grossed 4.1 million from Thursday night previews, a step down from "Despicable Me 2" and "Minions".

"Illumination, who brought audiences Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters-Margo, Edith and Agnes-and the Minions in Despicable Me 3. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed by Eric Guillon and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, the animated film is produced by Illumination's Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and executive produced by Chris Renaud. Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in Despicable Me 3 is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central's global phenomenon South Park and the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon.
