Werner Herzog's biopic "Queen of the Desert" chronicles the life of British traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché Gertrude Bell (Nicole Kidman), who found freedom in the faraway world of the Middle East.

The film also stars James Franco, Damian Lewis, Robert Pattinson, Jenny Agutter, David Calder and Jay Abdo.

"Queen of the Desert" was screened in the main competition section of the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival. Its first theatrical release was in Germany on September 3rd, 2015. In the U.S. it was released in select theaters and on demand on April 14th, 2017. It received generally negative reviews from critics.
