Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer and poster for the action comedy "CHIPs", based on the 1970s TV series of the same name.

Michael Pena takes up the role of Frank Llewelyn "Ponch" Poncherello, previously played by Erik Estrada on TV. In the movie, Poncherello is an undercover FBI agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may have been perpetrated by members of the California Highway Patrol. Sent in to infiltrate the CHP, he teams up with hardened pro motorbiker Jon Baker (Dax Shepard) who is trying to put his life and marriage back together. Baker was played by Larry Wilcox in the TV series.

Shepard also wrote and directed the film. The cast also features Jessica McNamee, Adam Brody, Ryan Hansen, Vincent D'Onofrio, Kristen Bell, Maya Rudolph, Adam Rodriguez, Ben Falcone and Rosa Salazar.

"CHIPs" opens in theaters on March 24th.

Official Synopsis
"Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP.

The inexperienced rookie and hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kickstarting a partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker’s bike skills combined with Ponch’s street savvy it might just work…if they don’t drive each other crazy along the way."
