Paramount has released the official trailer and poster for Martin Scorsese's "Silence". The film is based on the 1966 novel by Shûsaku Endô and it stars Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver as two Jesuit priests who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor (Liam Neeson) and propagate Christianity, at a time when their religion has been outlawed and their presence forbidden. Ciarán Hinds, Shin'ya Tsukamoto and Tadanobu Asano co-star.
"Silence" opens in theaters on December 23rd.

"Martin Scorsese’s SILENCE tells the story of two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who face the ultimate test of faith when they travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson) – at a time when Christianity was outlawed and their presence forbidden. The celebrated director’s 28-year journey to bring Shusaku Endo’s 1966 acclaimed novel to life will be in theaters this Christmas."
