2016 BAFTA Nominations Announced

2016-bafta-awards-nominations

The nominations for the 69th annual BAFTA awards have been announced. Leading the count are Todd Haynes' 1950s lesbian romance "Carol" and Steven Spielberg's cold war drama "Bridge of Spies", tied with nine nominations each, followed by Alejandro González Iñárritu's "The Revenant" with eight nods, all including Best Picture. Other Best Picture nominees are "The Big Short" and "Spotlight", while Outstanding British Film nominees include "The Danish Girl" and "Ex Machina".

Despite missing out on the major categories, Mad Max: Fury Road nabbed seven nominations in technical categories including Visual Effects, Cinematograhy, Editing, Sound and Visual Effects. And, fear not, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was not forgotten, receiving four nods for Music, Production Design, Sound and Visual Effects.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts will announced its winners on February 14th.
