This week in theaters, we have two new wide releases battling for the top spot. The first is the hip-hop biopic "Straight Outta Compton" which has been getting some solid reviews, and the second is Guy Ritchie's 1960s actioner "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." which received mostly mixed notices from critics. In limited release there's Noah Baumbach's indie comedy "Mistress America" starring Greta Gerwig, and the thriller "Return to Sender" starring Rosamund Pike in a role that critics are calling a phoned-in reprise of her "Gone Girl" performance. More about each movie after the jump.

Synopses, details, critical reception, trailers, clips and more after the jump.
