5 New Clips for THE LONGEST RIDE

The Longest Ride Movie Clips

The Nicholas Sparks adaptation "The Longest Ride" opens today in theaters, so we have five new clips from the movie. Based on the author's 17th romance novel, the film stars Scott Eastwood ("Fury") and Britt Robertson ("Tomorrowland") as a couple whose lives intertwine with an older man (Alan Alda) whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple.

The film has not generated any positive enthusiasm from critics. The general consensus is that while the film may be a small improvement over the average Sparks adaptation, it's still a contrived and excessively sentimental affair, which is probably exactly what the author's fans expect from the movie. After the absurd ending of "Safe Haven" I am truly affraid of what Sparks has in store for this film's third act, which critics claim is no less ridiculous.

George Tillman Jr. ("Men of Honor") directs from a script by Craig Bolotin ("Black Rain"). Melissa Benoist, Jack Huston, Oona Chaplin, Lolita Davidovich and Gloria Reuben also star.

Watch the clips after the jump.
