THE COBBLER Trailer: Adam Sandler and the Magic Shoes

the-cobbler-trailer-adam-sandler

The first official trailer for the fantasy dramedy "The Cobbler" has been released. The film stars Adam Sandler as a shoe repairman who discovers the ability to enter the lives of other people through their shoes. While this sounds like another disappointing high-concept Sandler comedy (like the awful "Click"), at least the film has a decent writer/director on the job. Thomas McCarthy, who has proven his talent with films like "The Visitor" and "Win Win", could turn this into something enjoyable, despite the obviously schmaltzy tone. The film also stars Melonie Diaz, Dan Stevens, Fritz Weaver, Yul Vazquez, Steve Buscemi and Dustin Hoffman. I sure hope Dan Stevens gets to do more in this movie than what's been shown in this trailer.

"The Cobbler" opens in the U.K. on April 10th, 2015, but it doesn't have a domestic release date.

Watch the trailer after the jump.

Official Synopsis
"THE COBBLER is a warm and character-driven comedy that plays to the strengths of Adam Sandler’s and Thomas McCarthy’s most commercial successes. Sandler plays a 4th generation shoe-maker who discovers a magical sewing machine in his father’s basement that allows him to transform into other people by wearing their shoes. Similar in theme to Tom Hanks’ BIG, TRADING PLACES, and 13 GOING ON 30, THE COBBLER provides the perfect vehicle for Sandler to exhibit his endearing and selfless boyish charm, taking him on a voyage of self-discovery and learning the importance of family via the magic of “walking a mile in another man’s shoes.” A journey that results not only in changing himself, but the world around him."
