HERCULES: THE LEGEND BEGINS (2014) - Trailer

Hercules The Legend Begins Kellan Lutz

The first trailer for "Hercules: The Legend Begins" has been released. Don't confuse this with the other Hercules movie starring Dwayne Johnson. That one is called "Hercules: The Thracian Wars". This one is a much cheaper attempt to cash in on the hype surrounding that movie. I'm almost surprised it's not made by Asylum. Instead, the producers of "The Expendables" are responsible for this cheesy mess.

Directed by Renny Harling ("Cliffhanger", "Deep Blue Sea"), this is a mix of "300" and "Gladiator" and it stars Kellan Lutz ("Twilight") as the legendary hero. I won't bore you with what the story is about. You'll get plenty of that from the lengthy 3-minute trailer that almost narrates the entire movie.

"Hercules: The Legend Begins" also stars Scott Adkins, Liam McIntyre, Liam Garrigan, Jonathon Schaech, Roxanne McKee, Gaia Weiss and Rade Serbedzija. The movie will be released next year, but an exact release date has not been set. My guess is it's going straight to DVD.

Watch the trailer after the jump.

Official Synopsis

"In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king and restore peace to a land in hardship. But this prince, Hercules, knows nothing of his real identity or his destiny. He desires only one thing: the love of Hebe, Princess of Crete, who has been promised to his own brother. When Hercules learns of his greater purpose, he must choose: to flee with his true love or to fulfill his destiny and become the true hero of his time. The story behind one of the greatest myths is revealed in this action-packed epic – a tale of love, sacrifice and the strength of the human spirit."
