Trailer for AMERICAN HUSTLE Starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale and Amy Adams

Christian Bale and Amy Adams in American Hustle

The first trailer for David O. Russell's drama "American Hustle" has been released. The film is a fictional narrative set in the 1980s during the events of the real "Abscam" scandal, an undercover sting operation set up by a con artist working for the FBI which resulted in a huge blow against corruption in Congress. The trailer is light on facts, but heavy on fun. The cast features Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Michael Pena and Jack Jones. As you might notice, most of these actors have starred in Russell's previous films and most of them have been nominated for Oscar awards thanks to his films. Except for Bale, who actually won his supporting actor Oscar for Russell's "The Fighter". In fact, "American Hustle" is already seen as a solid contender for next year's awards season. The film will be available in theaters as a limited release on December 13th and will go wide on December 25th.

Watch the trailer after the jump.

Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper in American Hustle

Official Synopsis

"A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes."
