Trailer and Poster for KILLING SEASON Starring Robert De Niro and John Travolta

Robert De Niro and John Travolta star in KILLING SEASON

The first trailer and poster for the thriller "Killing Season" have been released. The film pits Robert De Niro as an American ex-military agent against John Travolta who plays a Serbian soldier posing as a tourist. It's not entirely clear why Travolta's character wants De Niro's character dead, but I suppose it's either because of a contract on his head, or some wartime grudge. Anyway, the film's selling point seems to be all about Travolta and De Niro being together on the big screen for the first time, but I'm not so sure this means much today. De Niro, who is no stranger to crappy movies, has been winning back some of his former glory with the Academy Award nomination for "Silver Linings Playbook", but Travolta still hasn't found any career-redeeming projects. And the last title in the trailer saying that the film is directed by Mark Steven Johnson, the director of "Daredevil" and "Ghost Rider", is the worst possible marketing idea. I mean, if the quality of the director's previous projects is any indication, than this will probably suck, too. The marketing just feels all over the place on this one.

"Killing Season" opens in theaters and VOD on July 12, 2013, and it will also be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on August 20, 2013.

Check out the trailer and poster after the jump.

Killing Season Robert De Niro John Travolta Poster

Official Synopsis

"American military veteran Benjamin Ford (Robert De Niro) has fled to a cabin retreat somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains, to forget the painful memories of the Bosnian War he fought in. One day, visitor Emil Kovac (John Travolta), a European tourist, knocks on his door, and the two men begin an unlikely friendship. When it develops that Kovac is in fact a former Serbian soldier bent on revenge, there begins a one-on-one confrontation and battle between the two throughout the harsh mountain environment."
