Weekend Box-Office Report (February 22-24, 2013)

Identity Thief Melissa McCarthy

In a surprising twist at the box-office, the comedy "Identity Thief" starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy climbed back to the top spot during a relatively thin weekend, narrowly surpassing the new action drama "Snitch" starring Dwayne Johnson. Competition was indeed weak, the only other wide release this weekend being the sci-fi thriller "Dark Skies", starring Keri Russell, which only managed a weak 6th place opening. Last week's "Safe Haven" and "A Good Day to Die Hard" also took heavy dives at the box-office, although "Escape from Planet Earth" managed to climb up one spot.

More box-office details and the complete top 10, after the jump.

New Wide Releases: "Snitch", "Dark Skies".

Weekend Total: aprox. $85M.

Biggest Drop : "A Good Day to Die Hard" (-59%)

Smallest Drop : "Silver Linings Playook" (-3%)
