In the last 24 hours, everyone's been buzzing about the big news that Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas for the astronomical figure of $4 Billion. Above is a video of Disney CEO Bob Iger and George Lucas discussing the finer details of this deal. It's quite obvious that this is not just a simple acquisition, but also a golden oportunity for Disney to carry on with such franchises as "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones". And that is exactly what they plan to do. The first thing Disney announced is that "Star Wars: Episode 7" is planned for a 2015 release date. Not only that, but Episode 7 will mark the beginning of a new trilogy, with episodes 8 and 9 to be released in 2017 and 2019, assuming that no Earth-shattering cataclysm occurs until then. Indeed, Disney gives a whole new meaning to the term "planning ahead". The new "Star Wars" releases will be entirely Disney property and 20th Century Fox will no longer be involved. However, it seems that Fox still holds the home video release rights and that contract doesn't expire until May 2020, so it's safe to assume that a legal battle will ensue. The legal troubles include the 3D re-releases of the remaining five films in the series, which Fox will also handle. Hopefully, they'll get things sorted out until 2015.

But let's put aside the dark legal aspects for a bit and talk some more about "Star Wars: Episode 7". Lucas will still be attached to the franchise as a "creative consultant" and Kathleen Kennedy will serve as executive producer for the new trilogy. Here is a video of George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy discussing the future of the "Star Wars" films :

The acquisition also involves Lucas' videogame franchises, his visual effect company Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and Skywalker Sound. Disney plans to leave ILM "as it is". Also, there is no mention of future "Indiana Jones" films, but never say never. In case you haven't had enough of details about this deal, click the link below to read the full official press release.

Official Synopsis: Beth Raymer (Rebecca Hall) is a beautiful girl with a big heart who leaves her dancing job at a Florida strip club to become a Las Vegas cocktail waitress. Not exactly an ideal career choice, but her borderline-ditzy personality doesn’t give her many options. In walks Dink (Bruce Willis), a professional sports bettor who sees through her bubbly exterior and offers her a job placing wagers all over town to gain an advantage over the casinos. Her surprisingly impeccable mind for numbers soon cements her status as Dink’s good-luck charm, until his gorgeous-but-frigid wife, Tulip (Catherine Zeta-Jones), starts to get jealous. Faced with no other choice but to fire Beth, Dink’s luck runs out when she heads to New York to work for a smarmy bookie, a turn of events that lands her squarely on the wrong side of the law.

A new official image from "The Wolverine" (above) has surfaced online and it shows Hugh Jackman in character, showing off Wolverine's bone claws, that is, before his entire skeleton was covered in the indestructible Adamantium. This indicates that Wolverine's origin story will be advanced, but the big surprise is that according to director James Mangold, "The Wolverine" is not a prequel to the "X-Men" trilogy like "X-Men Origins" was, but a sequel. Here is what Mangold had to say:
"Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all. Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him. That’s something that for me was very important, that I land in a very specific place in his timeline. I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it. The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that’s such an interesting part of Logan’s character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie."
