It's shiny, sleek and black. It's RoboBike. Yes, it's time for more photos from the set of the ROBOCOP remake, and this time we get to see the robotic cop's futuristic-looking motorcycle. The design is cool enough for the concept, but the pictures have prompted some seriously sarcastic comments on the Internet, most of which hint at similarities with the Dark Knight franchise. I guess it's pretty cool these days for a superhero to get his own shiny bike, well-assorted to his armor. But, I doubt that the vehicle will serve any kind of gadget-driven purpose on screen. It's probably just a way for RoboCop to drive around town. It'll surely see its share of chase scenes, but it doesn't seem to be accessorized in a Batman kind of way. Time will tell.

"RoboCop" is a remake/reboot of Paul Verhoeven's classic sci-fi. The updated version is directed by Jose Padilha ("Elite Squad") and stars Joel Kinnaman ("The Killing") as RoboCop, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, Michael Keaton and Jennifer Ehle. The movie is scheduled for release on August 9, 2013. Here is the official synopsis :
"In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. RoboCop is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Eric Carraro as Executive Producer. The film is currently in pre-production and slated for a summer 2013 release."
