Official Synopsis : New Year's Eve celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, in the intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.
Genre: Romance, Comedy
What to Expect : With a mile-long list of famous actors you can't go wrong, right ? Wrong. This is just tired, formulaic rom-com material. The actors involved might as well be invisible because they are shot down by a thin, cliched plot and bad direction. This is a waste of time for anyone brave enough to watch it and a shameless attempt to cash in on the holiday season.
Critical Response : Negative. You can definitely call "New Year's Eve" a resounding disaster. Most reviewers awarded the movie the lowest score possible, complaining about the clunky filmmaking displayed by director Garry Marshall and writer Katherin Fugate. The cast is completely wasted and the story is boring and lacks credibility. One critic put it extremely well : "So garish and manipulative that it doesn't really qualify as a film -- it's a product, no more an actual movie than a Hallmark card is a piece of poetry." Rated 6% on Rottentomatoes.com from 5 positive and 93 negative reviews.
