In Theaters : THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011)

Official Synopsis : The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first film in Columbia Pictures' three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson's literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy. Directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the film is based on the first novel in the trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries and become a worldwide phenomenon.

Genre: Thriller, Drama

What to Expect : Have you seen the original swedish version ? This is pretty much the same, except it's got an impressive international cast and it's directed by the guy who reinvented the gloomy thriller  (David Fincher - "Seven"). Honestly, if you're familiar with the original and are already a big fan of Noomi Rapace's performance as Lisbeth, you're probably going to find it difficult to watch this one.

Critical Response : Positive. Although critics are enjoying this remake, many have noted that this is a lesser effort on Fincher's part, simply because he's already done this before ("Seven"). Rooney Mara has been receiving positive notice for her performance as Lisbeth Salander, the iconic goth hacker girl with a dragon tattoo and a traumatic past. Not only that but she has also received a Golden Globe nomination. Overall, most reviews call "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" a stylish, well-made, beautifuly shot, sharply acted, tense thriller. Rated 85% on Rottentomatoes.com from 123 positive and 22 negative reviews.
