Synopsis: The first season of a live-action web-series based on the popular videogame, created by Kevin Tancharoen. The series, a mix of the game's classic lore filtred through a grittier realism, contains 9 episodes serving as origin stories for a series of Mortal Kombat characters : Jax, Kano, Raiden, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Cyrax and Sektor.

What to Expect : A treat for Mortal Kombat Fans, but not necessarily a must-see for everyone else. The series has decent production values but lacks any serious character developement and the overall writing is pretty weak. There's a satisfactory level of action and the gritty vibe helps us overlook some of its rough edges. I'm not quite sure what the marketing strategy is, here. I mean, why spend money on a Blu-Ray, when the series is available online in HD ? It is unknown if there will be a season 2, but there has been talk of a theatrical release. If that's the case, then these episodes will serve as a prequel of sorts to the upcoming movie. If you want to check out the episodes, you can watch them right HERE.
