Critical Response : Positive. The highlight of "Rampart" is widely considered to be its cast, with many reviewers singling out Harrelson's performance, many calling it the best role of his career. Positive reviews also mentioned the uncompromising treatment of (co-writer) Ellroy's typical cop drama material, which, oddly enough, is exactly the main reason why some critics disliked it. This is a clear indication that the movie is not for everyone, so you should weigh in all the factors before choosing this as week-end entertainment.
