There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (played by Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghost Face, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger. The newest installment in the acclaimed franchise that ushered in a new wave of horror in the 1990s is written by series creator Kevin Williamson and directed by suspense master and director of the first trilogy, Wes Craven. What to Expect : Scream 1 with more self-awareness and less thrills. It's a return to the series' roots, actually, but there's an aura of pointlesness floating around this gory sequel. It's not exactly bad. Both of the previous sequels were so-so thrillers, and this last one follows the same trend, except it's bordering heavily on self-parody, which takes away from its edginess. Still, fans of the series should give it a try, even if just by renting it.
