In Theaters : WARRIOR (2011)

Official Synopsis : Haunted by a tragic past, ex-Marine Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns home for the first time in fourteen years to enlist the help of his father (Nick Nolte) to train for SPARTA, the biggest winner-takes-all event in mixed martial arts history. A former wrestling prodigy, Tommy blazes a path toward the championship while his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), an ex-fighter-turned teacher, returns to the ring in a desperate bid to save his family from financial ruin. But when Brendan's unlikely, underdog rise sets him on a collision course with the unstoppable Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart, facing off in the most soaring, soul stirring, and unforgettable climax that must be seen to be believed.

Genre: Action, Drama, Sports

What to Expect : The usual sports drama, elevated by above-average direction, writing and acting. It's an all around treat and a big surprise to anyone expecting it to be just a simple martial arts B-flick.

Critical Response : Positive. Critics were extremely excited about the movie, especially because they weren't expecting it to be this good. Hardy, Edgerton and Nolte recevied unanimous praise for their performances. The action received epiteths like "jaw-snapping" and "bone-crunching", so it's safe to say action fans will be satisfied. Reviewers remarked that the script has a soap-opera flavor, but it's easy to overlook. Rated 83% on Rottentomatoes.com from 77 positive and 16 negative reviews.
