Following the 2011 Anne Hathaway & James Franco Oscars debacle, the Academy is seriously considering radical solutions to the falling ratings problem. So, the new host of next year's Academy Awards show is ... (drum roll) ... Eddie Murphy. Well, you already read the title and saw the picture, so I guess there was no need for a drum roll. Murphy came in after Brett Ratner was hired to direct the show. I'm sure Ratner was probably impressed by Murphy's performance in his latest action comedy,
"Tower Heist", but, honestly, they will need a lot more than Murphy's exhausting rants to increase the show's excitement factor. On the bright side of things, though, Eddie Murphy is pretty damn good when it comes to improvisation, so I'm hoping he can pull off some funny riffs during the show. Ayway, next year, on the 26th of February, we'll find out how good Eddie Murphy is at stand-up comedy these days.
