In Theaters : THE WHISTLEBLOWER (2011)

Official Synopsis : This ripped-from-the-headlines thriller is inspired by actual events. Kathy Bolkovac (Rachel Weisz) is a Nebraskan police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic doubletalk.

What to Expect : A fact-based drama and an average thriller starring Rachel Weisz, who we so seldomly see in quality leading roles. Don't expect too much and you might actually get a kick out of this one. A must-see if you're looking for a political chiller with a relevant story. Limited Release.

Critical Response : Mixed. Critics were divded on this one, some feeling that the movies is clumsy and flat, while others appreciated the filmmaker's dedication in portraying the story on the big screen. Ultimately, I suppose the general consensus is that while the movie is not exactly a brilliant example of storytelling, it addresses important issues that need to be known. Unanimous praises went to Rachel Weisz for her fearless performance. Rated 59% on Rottentomatoes.com from 16 positive and 11 negative reviews.
