In Theaters : FINAL DESTINATION 5 (2011)

Official Synopsis : In Final Destination 5, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man's premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda.

Genre: Horror

What to Expect : I think you already know the routine. A group of people survives a horrible accident thanks to someone's premonition, then they're killed by Death one by one in gory and imaginative ways that rival the "Saw" movies. Don't expect this one to be any different. The bridge incident that kicks off this installment's death-fest looks like it's inspired by "The Mothman Prophecies", probably a less known supernatural thriller starring Richard Gere, that featured a similar and very well-staged bridge collapse. Seems to me like they're running out of ideas.

Critical Response : Mixed, which is surprising for a fifth installment in a horror franchise. Much like "Saw VI" managed to breathe a little life into its own flailing series, so does "Final Destination 5", according to critics.  Some scorned the movie for its stupidity and lifeless execution, while others appreciated how the filmmakers threw away all attempts to craft a plot and just focused on the gruesome deaths. The mixed/positive reviewes indicate that there's still fuel here for more sequels. Rated 55% on Rottentomatoes.com from 26 positive and 20 negative reviews
