"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is a prequel to the original 1968 sci-fi thriller "Planet of the Apes". It's an origin story, presenting the events that lead to our planet being taken over by the apes, who have obtained a boost in intelligence through some genetic experiments meant to produce ground-breaking advances in modern medicine. Starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and Andy Serkis (as the ape Caesar). For the first time ever, the apes are no longer actors in makeup, but motion-control CGI characters.
