In Theaters : COWBOYS & ALIENS (2011)

Official Synopsis : 1875. New Mexico Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. -- (C) Official Site

Genre: Sci-Fi, Action, Adventure

What to Expect : Big, loud and fancy sci-fi western from the director of "Iron Man". Don't expect anything other than a popcorn blockbuster with a cool cast, including veteran actor Harrison Ford. You won't walk away enlightened. You probably won't even remember what the whole thing was about. But you will definitely leave the theater entertained.

Critical Response : Mixed and slightly negative, which is a disappointment after all the flashy publicity we've been fed all year. Critics were divided into two categories. Some enjoyed the silly fun and the talented cast, while others were simply disappointed by the uneven tone and lack of substance. In the end, the movie walked away with a 41% rating on "Rottentomatoes.com", from 46 positive and 65 negative reviews.

  • Running Time : 118 min.

  • Rating : PG-13 for intense sequences of western and sci-fi action and violence, some partial nudity and a brief crude reference.
