The sequel to the 2010 surprise hit (exact words of the official synopsis), just isn't that surprising anymore. Once again we follow Greg's adventures in middle-school, only this time the story also involves his parent's attempts to have him and his sadistic brother bond. The wit is gone and the movie feels too self-aware of how successful it's supposed to be, which kind of makes it seem like it was made on auto-pilot by everyone involved. To be fair, it's not all bad, so if you're in the mood for some 10-year-old humor, go for it.
