New on DVD & Blu-Ray : BEASTLY (2010)

"Love is Never Ugly" the tagline says. But this movie sure does. Lazy and unimaginative, poorly acted, written and directed, "Beastly" is an inferior retelling of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" story, based on a novel written by Alex Flinn. It that has a lot in common with another beloved work of fiction, "Twilight". But, as much as I hate saying this, I enjoyed the movie adaptation of "Twilight" more than I did "Beastly", and I avoid seeing "Twilight" again like the plague. Alex Pettyfer might be the next Robert Pattinson, but I have a hunch neither will make it past their teen sensation moment. Disappointingly, there's not much reason to go for the Blu-Ray if you're looking for more special features. Both the DVD and BD editions have the same exact content. Read on to find out more.

DVD/Blu-Ray (same on both) Special Features :
  • Alternate Ending
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Kristina and the Dolls Music Video for "Be Mine"
  • "A Classic Tale Retold: The Story of Beastly" Featurette
  • "Creating the Perfect Beast" Featurette

Product Description : Beastly is a teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. 17-year-old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer: I Am Number Four) is the spoiled, shallow and an incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a goth classmate rumoured to be a witch, as his latest target for humiliation. Unfazed by his cruel behaviour, Kendra decides to teach him a lesson--she transforms him into someone as unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. Now he has one year to find someone who can see past the surface and love him, or he will remain “Beastly” forever. His only hope, an unassuming classmate he never noticed named Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens: High School Musical), may be his best chance to prove that love is never ugly.
