In Theaters, June 17, 2011 : GREEN LANTERN

Official Synopsis : In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. -- (C) Warner Bros

What to Expect : You will walk out of this movie deaf and blind. It's a hard and heavy assault on the eyes and ears. Not the brain, unfortunately. While it's certainly a letdown when compared to comic book adaptation masterpieces like "The Dark Knight" or "Spiderman 2", for those seeking a gorgeous, but shallow spectacle, this is what you're looking for.

Critical Response : Mostly negative. There's a good chance that fans of the comics will love it, but not the critics. The critics griped about the clunky, derivative dynamics of the movie, the poorly developed characters and a lack of wit despite a cheesy plot that badly needed it. There are no real positive reviews to speak of, mostly mixed. These peacemakers among critics enjoyed the movie's childish space opera concept and compelling visuals. "Green Lantern" is currently 22% fresh on Rottentomatoes.com, from 29 positive/mixed reviews and 100 negative ones.
