| The Demolition Crew is back in action. |
Sylvester Stallone returns with a sequel to his, somewhat, blockbuster hit, "The Expendables". Lionsgate chose August 17, 2012 as its release date. While Stallone will reprise his role, it seems he's willing to let someone else sit in the director's chair for a change. The rest of the cast from the original will probably return as well. Ah, but the real question is not which actors will return for the sequel, but which new aging iconic action stars will enter the soon to become franchise. Jean Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal are some of the names thrown around the Internet. I actually liked "The Expendables" and I appreciated the return to old-school kick-ass 80s action and I think a sequel is welcome. You can find the review on this blog. But, and it's a pretty big but, the fun could turn into something not entirely likable, once the studios start franchising the whole thing. They really have to be careful about that. A passion project can easily become cash hungry garbage.
