The battle for Easter is on! In HOP, Despicable Me's Russell Brand voices E.B., the teenage son of the Easter Bunny. On the eve of taking over the family business, E.B. leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. Once there, he encounters Fred (James Marsden of the X-Men series, Enchanted), an unemployed slacker with his own lofty goals. Feigning injury, E.B. persuades Fred to take him in, and Fred finds himself living with the world's worst houseguest. Back on Easter Island, a power-hungry chick who has lived in the shadows for far too long has been plotting a coup to take over one of the biggest jobs in the world. Now that E.B.'s gone, he's got his chance. As E.B. discovers who he really wants to be and who he's meant to become, everything will lead him and Fred to an epic showdown to try and save Easter. -- (c) Universal Pictures
From the director of "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties", comes "Hop", a new entry in the animated talking animals saga. Well it's not really a saga, but as long as it turns a profit, the studios will make sure it feels like one. I couldn't find one single funny thing about this trailer. The movie will probably be just as bad, or worse. Kids will eat it up, of course, and after all, aren't they the ones the studios are targetting ? Let's just hope it doesn't do well enough to get a sequel. Due for release on April 1, 2011.
