Alcon Entertainment is in negotiations to get their hands on the franchise rights for the 1982 cult classic sci-fi "Blade Runner". By owning the rights, they will be able to produce prequels and sequels. The original movie, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford received some harsh critical reviews back in '82, but has since become an iconic sci-fi epic, undergoing several director's cut makeovers right up until 2007 when a Final Cut was released. Normally this kind of news would send me into a coma, but, to be honest, I think there's a lot that can be done with the "Blade Runner" universe. In fact, in 1997 Westwood Studios released a "Blade Runner" adventure game which was basically a spin-off, telling a different story which took place within the same timeline as the movie and it was pretty good. So, there is potential for it. At least they're not thinking of remaking it. Thank God for small favors.
